COLLEGE ADVISING PROGRAMME(CAP)

A.I.M. takes a student-centred approach, focusing on the interests and values of students in positioning them for success in the college admissions process, starting as early as Grade 9. We provide one-on-one guidance at each stage of the application process with mentorship and coaching for success infused across the A.I.M. curriculum. Our CAP is designed to make the student’s application as competitive as possible and is customized to meet the needs of each student. The CAP typically includes:
 

• Evaluation of the student
  
• ‘Infrastructure building’ for 9th and 10th graders including course recommendations and strategic guidance for academic enrichment, extra-curricular activities including community service and effective use of summer ‘vacations’
  
• Research and development of college list according to the student’s strengths, interests and needs including financial aid / merit aid requirements
  
• Development of college plan including timelines for campus visits, standardized testing and an application strategy according to college
  
• Brainstorming and editing support for essay and short-answer questions
  
• Assistance with completion of the application forms
  
• Final application review

A.I.M TEST PREP: SAT & SSAT
We offer Small Group Classes and Private Tutoring for the SAT and SSAT. Our test prep courses are results-driven and coach students to their highest score using proven techniques that focus on intelligent analysis instead of memorization. Students of the A.I.M. programme benefit from realistic practice through exams fully proctored under test-like conditions and personalized feedback essential to maximizing performance on test day. The A.I.M. test preparation programmes will build confidence and keep students motivated and focused, we are passionate about helping each student succeed – our programme can mean the difference between ‘ok’ and ‘outstanding’ results.

Small Group Classes
The A.I.M. classroom experience is truly unique. Students learn in a dynamic, interactive setting while small class-size ensures personal attention tailored to the unique learning styles of the student.

Private Tutoring Programme
Students of the Private Tutoring Programme benefit from individual instruction targeted toward improvement in identified areas and a customized study plan based on their needs. A limited number of spaces is available for one-on-one tutoring programmes with Nicole McLaren and placement
subject to availability of space.
INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATIONS
One-on-one consultations are available to discuss the college admissions process and answer any questions parents or students may have.

A.I.M. COLLEGE TOURS
A.I.M. College Tours arranges college tours for students and families to explore college campuses, according to the needs and preferences of the family. We work with families on an individual basis to customize the college visit experience providing a checklist of what to look for, who to speak with and what questions to ask and connecting families to tours, information sessions and other admissions activities at various colleges. We take care of details like campus maps, parking directions and accommodation so that parents can focus on what is most important – the student.
